The modernization of existing mill equipment is often an economical way to increase mill production and strip quality. All mill modernizations benefit from our years of expertise in mill design and manufacture by incorporating existing mechanical and electrical equipment along with updated components and engineering.

Mill systems that are typical candidates for revamp and replacement are; screwdowns, gauge control, drive systems, PLCs, operator stations, entry and exit tables, roll change equipment, coolant systems, 20Hi Cluster bore alignment, backing assemblies, etc.

Mill modernizations are often part of our mill relocation services which can include foundation design, installation and startup.

Our service does not stop when your equipment leaves our plant. I²S service representatives provide 24 hour phone support and quick on-site service worldwide. In order to assist each customer, our service department maintains a current drawing set for each job and a copy of each customers' service data manuals for reference.

I²S also provides training for customers on their mill line or mill control systems. Our training program includes training manuals containing electrical, mechanical and hydraulic technical and operational information.

Our installation and start-up crews are made up of members of our engineering and service staff. Because of extensive in-house testing prior to delivery, our crew is totally familiar with each system, which expedites system troubleshooting and equipment tuning during installation and start-up.

Intergrated Industrial Systems provides spare and replacement parts for all equipment from a special screw to a complete housing. Our spare parts department also develops a recommended spare parts lists for all of our new mills or modernization projects. We have on hand critical items that often require immediate replacement such as I²S designed PC boards, encoders and other electronic components. All repairs are handled through our spare parts department.

The I²S Pratt & Whitney gauge program is a very popular way to modernize these older contact gauges and we are always looking for unused Pratt & Whitney parts. Ask about our special program covering this area.

With the same level of quality given to our new backing assembly business, we are uniquely qualified to offer extensive inspection and rebuild services to the rolling mill industry. Backing Assemblies

In 1987, Intergrated Industrial Systems began manufacturing and rebuilding backing assemblies for cluster type rolling mills. This introduction further enhanced our commitment to the manufacture of new mills and the modernization of existing mills including mechanical, electrical, gauging and AGC systems.

I²S has full capability to engineer and build new backing assemblies, as well as inspect and revamp existing ones, for all types of cluster mills. Just as experience plays a large role in the operation of rolling mills, several of our talented employees have over thirty years specialized experience in the manufacture of backing assembliesBacking assemblies are at the heart of all 20 High Cluster Mills. We can greatly improve your strip shape control by offering you new assemblies or fully inspecting and rebuilding old ones. The manufacture of backing assemblies for cluster-type rolling mills is a very specialized process. The production of these rolling mill components requires not only the very latest in precision CNC machine tools but also a high level of craftsmanship and experience. At I²S, we have successfully combined these elements to offer our customers a complete line of backing assemblies for new and existing mills. I²S has manufactured complete new assemblies for ZR19, ZR34, ZR24, ZR33, ZR23 and ZR22 models.

Over the years we have made significant investment in CNC machine tools specifically for our backing assembly production. Our world-class machining centers, lathes and grinding department provide us with the right tools for the job. Along with our specialized fixtures, we obtain tolerances that far exceed those of OEM backing assemblies that were provided with hundreds of 20 high rolling mills throughout the world.

To back up I²S’ commitment to quality control, a specially designed, temperature controlled assembly room has been set up. Within this environment, the latest in precision measuring equipment has been installed. This special room is critical to our inspection and assembly personnel who must verify tolerances free from dimensional deviations due to temperature changes.
